A wearable barcode system that puts medication checks in the clinician's field of view. Built from off-the-shelf hardware and 3D-printed parts, Argus explores whether drug verification can fit more naturally into the work of giving an anaesthetic.

Overview

Argus pairs a head-mounted display with a Raspberry Pi and camera to scan patient wristbands and medication packaging. It checks drug details against the Dictionary of Medicines and Devices and a mock electronic prescribing record, then displays the result without requiring the wearer to pick up a separate scanner.

The proof of concept includes custom FreeCAD mounting brackets and interchangeable imaging modules. It demonstrates the technical workflow; how a wearable system would fit into clinical practice remains an open question.
